Mr. Jaroslaw Horodecky of New Jersey has passed away. The funeral was held on Monday, October 1, 2001. Mr. Horodecky was a long time active member of the New York Chapter the Ukrainian Engineers' Society of America.

This is an informational letter from the president of the National Chapter outlining recent events. Among the news is the announcement that the "Visti" or "Engineering News" are in the process of being mailed, there has been a change in the leadership of the New York City Chapter, and that the next General Elections are being planned for the end of September 2001. The date has yet to be finalized.

Obituary

Mr. Stephan Kosonocky of New Jersey has passed away. The funeral was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2001. Mr. Kosonocky was an active member of the Ukrainian-American community in New Jersey, Mr. Kosonocky was a branch secretary for the Ukrainian National Association, a member of the Ukrainian Engineers' Society of America and the Ukrainian Congress Committee.

This new item was a bit delayed in reaching us, but it finally arrived. Back on February 10, 2001 the Philadelphia Chapter of UESA held its annual Engineers' Ball and presentation of debutantes. The event included the presentation of 9 debutantes and was attended by 250 people. The following dance was attended by over 500 people.

In July 2000, a Ukrainian newspaper in Sevastopol published a short article about a 10 day long goodwill visit of UESA member Engineer Wasyl Mackiw to Ukraine. The visit took place in June of 2000 and included visits with several organizations, Ukrainian students, and with Ukraine's Minister of Culture. The article also includes a speech presented by Mr. Mackiw to members of the Sevastopol Naval Institute.

The Rutgers Ukrainian Students Club gathered to listen to presentations from Ukrainian professionals in the "real world." Representatives from the Professionals and Business Persons Association and UESA spoke about their organizations. Andriy Wowk, UESA's New Jersey chapter president, and Alexander Salewycz, UESA's New York chapter president provided a presentation about UESA's history and its main objectives.
