Obituary - Stephan Kosonocky, 68

Mr. Kosonocky was a mechanical engineer for the federal government at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey where he was employed for more than 35 years before retiring in April.

Mr. Kosonocky authored numerous patents independently and in collaboration with others. He was awarded various distinctions for excellence of service to the United States Government.

He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mechanical engineering, both from the Newark College of Engineering.

An active member of the Ukrainian-American community in New Jersey, Mr. Kosonocky was a branch secretary for the Ukrainian National Association, a member of the Ukrainian Engineers' Society of America and the Ukrainian Congress Committee.

Born in the village of Sieradz, Poland, he came to the United States in 1949, settling in Newark before moving to Whippany in 1967.

Surviving are Anna, his wife of 33 years, a son Andrew, and a daughter, Natalie.
